Wave awarded funding by The Year of Young People National Lottery Fund to #SparkAChange in Highland

We are delighted to announce that Wave have been awarded funding from the Year of Young People National Lottery Fund to involve under 25s in improving sexual health services in Highland.

The funding will be used to help us to recruit and train a group of young people to form a steering group, focusing on sexual health issues.

The group will help ensure that the voices of young people are heard in terms of their sexual health and relationship needs. With Wave’s support, the group will have opportunity to design and run their own campaigns and lead on work that is important to them and their peers.

At Wave, we are extremely proud to say that young people have been involved in developing our service from the very beginning. This funding also allows us to continue to consult and work with young people to ensure that all aspects of our service remain relevant, useful and make learning about sex and relationships enjoyable for under 25s across Highland.

Jo Sykes, Young People’s Education Coordinator for Waverley Care’s Wave Highland Project said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded funding from the Year of Young People National Lottery Fund! We want to ensure young people are at the forefront of evaluating, developing and improving sexual health services and this funding will allow us to fully involve young people in shaping future programmes and resources within the Wave Project. The funding will also allow us to support young people, some in particularly remote and rural areas with limited access to support, to have a voice and stand up for their rights in regards to their sexual health and relationships. We can’t wait to get started.”
